The Phoenix Project A Novel About IT, DevOps, and Helping Your Business Win By Kim, Gene/ Behr, Kevin/ Spafford, George (Book – 2013 )
Who would have thought that the founder of Tripwire, Gene Kim was also a novelist? I.T. managers will find this book hilarious, as will senior sysadmins. The story is of an I.T. manager in a large company who is juggling far too many balls. He struggles through by applying the best ITIL processes. The humour comes from the battles with Development and Security groups, which are perhaps competent but cause all the system outages.
The book is filed under Non-Fiction, and that is probably appropriate. But when did you last find a page-turner in Non-Fiction?. I.T. staff will learn much from the hero’s calm, sensible approach to solving all the crises.
